Absorbable tensor threads - Luxembourg

What are tensor threads ?

Tensor threads are tiny absorbable threads that can be made from a variety of materials, such as Polydioxanone or L-polylactic acid (PLA). These notched threads offer an alternative to cosmetic surgery, helping to tighten the skin when cutaneous tissue slackens.

But that's not all: tensor threads also stimulate collagen production. This protein, naturally present in our bodies, is responsible for skin firmness. As we age, collagen production declines, as does that of hyaluronic acid (a molecule that hydrates the dermis and keeps the epidermis smooth and firm). This leads to sagging skin, the appearance of the first wrinkles and a less plump, even wrinkled appearance.

Tensor threads are not wrinkle treatments. Their primary role is to restore tension to the skin.

When should tensor threads be used ?

Tensor threads are an aesthetic medicine solution to skin aging. They are used when the face sags. Their role is to stimulate sagging skin to restore facial volume. The result is firmer, more toned skin.

What areas can be treated with tensor threads ?

Many areas of the face can be stimulated with tensor threads. These include:

Facial contours: tensor threads are ideal for redefining facial contours. They can be used to highlight cheekbones or affirm a jawline.

The look: do your eyes look tired? Do your eyelids droop? Notched threads can be used to straighten the tail of the eyebrow and subtly lift the eyelids. This technique is used by many celebrities to achieve a foxy-eye effect, i.e. pretty almond-shaped eyes.

Jowls: tensor threads can be used to straighten drooping jowls and the lower contours of the face.

Neck: the neck and lower chin tend to sag over time. The use of tensor threads can sharpen the angle between the neck and chin, rejuvenating the face.

Nasolabial folds: tensor threads, placed in the jowls, have a lifting action on the cheekbones. This helps rejuvenate the entire middle third of the face. The corners of the mouth and nasolabial folds appear fuller and tighter. The face is brighter, skin folds less visible and shadows less present.

The upper face: tensor threads can be applied to erase forehead wrinkles.

The nose: tensor threads can be used to correct a small bump on the bridge of the nose, or to straighten the tip. These techniques offer very attractive results and avoid the need for cosmetic surgery.

Cleavage: tensor threads can enhance the bust without surgery.

What happens during tensor thread insertion ?

Tensor threading follows a preliminary consultation with a physician. This first appointment enables the practitioner to observe the patient's face, discuss the project and gather information on the patient's medical history.

If no contraindications are identified, the doctor schedules an appointment for the placement of the tightening threads. A typical session is as follows:

 - The doctor makes pre-therapeutic drawings to determine the points where the threads will be inserted under the skin.
 - The area to be treated is disinfected.
 - A sterile drape is placed around the patient's face to avoid any risk of infection.
 - He administers a local anaesthetic along the course of the tensioning threads.
 - The doctor inserts the threads under the skin using a sterile micro-cannula or needle.

Threading is a procedure that leaves no visible traces. It's a fast, simple procedure that delivers immediate results. The threads dissolve naturally in the body after approximately 12 to 24 months.
